Why should you spiral out?

1. Millions in Local Economic Impact with Great R.O.I. Potential
"An Engine for the U.S. Economy: When a movie or television show shoots on location, it brings jobs, revenue, and related infrastructure development, providing an immediate boost to the local economy. The film industry pays out $33 billion per year to more than 240,000 businesses in cities and small towns across the country—and the industry itself is comprised of more than 122,000 businesses, 92 percent of which employ fewer than 10 people. As much as $1.3 million can be injected into local economies per day when a film shoots on location."

Investors can also benefit with attractive R.O.I. potential.

2. Increase Tourism by an Average of 31%
"According to studies, a film can significantly increase local tourism by an average of 31%, with some locations experiencing boosts as high as 300% in visitor numbers due to the exposure from being featured in a movie. For instance, all filming locations of the Harry Potter movies experienced a 50% growth in tourism once the movies were released. Similarly, Braveheart resulted in a 300% increase in tourism to Wallace Monument in Scotland, while Mission Impossible 2 increased tourism to Sydney National Park by 200%. Meanwhile, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie franchises have had such a massive impact on New Zealand’s tourism that its tourists are specifically called “Tolkien Tourists.” One in every three visitors visits at least one film set. This is just the tip of the iceberg of film-induced tourism.
Key points about film tourism:
-
Significant impact:
A film can dramatically increase tourism to a location by making it recognizable to a wider audience, particularly when iconic landmarks or landscapes are prominently featured."

A Message from our Founder:
At no point in my life have I not understood the profoundness of film and power of storytelling. Growing up, my favorite thing was to go to work with my grandparents. Why? They owned a small-town country store in Goshen, AR where they rented movies. While having access to hundreds of films, posters, memorabilia, and all the fun promotional swag was SO COOL, what fascinated me most were people's reactions to the films themself. How they took comfort in the movies, and would rent the same film again and again. I was never shy, nor afraid to ask why, and would often ask customers why they liked the films they frequently rented. Technically, the answers varied. Ultimately, however, they were the same. Good movies make us feel a sense of connection and comfort only the magic of cinema can produce. They serve as a lifeline between generations, and open our hearts and minds to not only how the world could be, but how we can contribute to it.

My turn to first-hand experience the significance of film came when I was four years old. My father passed away trying to save a friend from drowning. My grandfather, obsessed with filmmaking himself, recorded hours of home video of my father, mother, brother, and me. For many years those tapes served as my lifeline to my dad. They taught me more about him, allowed me to hear his voice, and showed how much he deeply loved my family. I was crying while watching when Grandpa asked one of the most important questions I've ever been asked: "Does it help?" I said "yes," and decided to become a filmmaker.

My hope is that Spiral Out Films serves audiences by providing the connection they're looking for. I also hope to serve Arkansas' artists by sharing all my knowledge and resources to drive our film community, while remaining a humble student of the trade seeking wisdom.
